Melek-i Tawus in Yazidi Faith
In this study, the concept of Melek-i Tawus and the problem of evil in the Yazidi belief are examined. The author focuses on the historical journey of the concept of Melek-i Tawus and tries to identify the changes it has undergone. The possible interactions and unique specificities of the concept of Melek-i Tawus with Zoroastrianism, Islam, Judaism and Christianity are also discussed within this framework.
The changes that the concept of Melek-i Tawus has undergone in historical thresholds are examined by showing its differences and similarities with concepts such as Allah, Satan and evil, which are influential in neighboring religions. Additionally, the Yazidi faith's approach to the philosophical problem of Evil and its solutions are discussed. While doing these, special importance is given to adhering to Yazidi sources and Yazidism's own perspective.
While examining the concept of Melek-i Tawus and related texts in the work, instead of a research that only refers to the historical background, a method based on the analyzes of 20th century philosophers and psychoanalysts such as Michel Foucault, W. Benjamin and Jacques Lacan is used.
