As long as it doesn't darken...
Onat Kutlar reflected the sensitivity of the period in the manner of a poet in a series of letters-essays he wrote between 1982-84. Memet Fuat, Ferit Edgü, Erdal Öz, Işıl Özgentürk applauded when the articles, in which friendships, pains, hopes, moreover freedom and captivity were expressed in a masterful way, were published as a book under the name "As Long as It Darkens...".
Why do you find it strange that these letters, ignited by the sparks of the combination of poetry, novel, painting, music and, of course, cinema, still strike a match in some darkness thirty years after they were written?
What a twilight... A long dark hour stuck between night and day. Stuck between past and future, east and west, death and life. Twilight swallows everything with an invisible whirlwind. At this point, the boundaries of honor and infamy become mixed. Of everything. Resistance, turning the corner, freedom, captivity. To leave? In such cases, someone has to turn and answer the door before anyone else. However, we are wandering around in the inner circles of Byzantium with the drunkenness of a compressed slave.
