Wretched of the Earth
Frantz Fanon's most famous work, The Wretched of the Earth, in which he tries to analyze the psychological consequences of colonialism on colonial people, is known as the manifesto of the anti-colonial struggle and the freedom of the Third World. It inspired national liberation movements in Africa and the Black Panthers in the United States.
Our noble souls are racist!
These guerrillas must act chivalrously to be accepted; This is the best way to prove that they are human. Sometimes the left shames them: "You're going too far, we can't support you any longer." The natives do not mind their support at all; They can take this support and put it on one side, that's how much it's worth. As soon as the war started, they saw this harsh truth: We are just like everyone else, we all took advantage of them, they don't have to prove anything, they won't give anyone preferential treatment. One mission, one goal: to drive out colonialism by all means. The most alert of us are ready to accept this when necessary, but in this trial of strength they cannot fail to see the completely inhuman method by which the inferior people obtain a certificate of humanity: Give this certificate at once, and let them try to earn it by peaceful means. Our noble souls are racist.
Read Fanon. Fanon shows perfectly that this irrepressible violence is neither a storm in a glass, nor a reemergence of barbarian instincts, nor a resentment: it is man coming to his senses.
