The point that unhappy, problematic, unworkable marriages reach is: Divorce. However, it is obvious that divorce, especially divorced women, is not viewed favorably in Turkish society. The reasons for this are the almost breathless oppressiveness of the institution of "fatherhood" and "manhood", social pressures and the environment that always evaluates the divorced woman with suspicion, labeling or pitying her with the thought that she cannot stand on her own feet.
