It is thought that Roland Barthes's main orientation as a writer was to write 'pieces'. In Writing and Commentary, we aimed to bring together pieces that could convey to the reader the integrity of Barthes's work, which extends from semiotics to literary theory, sociology and cultural criticism. Barthes may be a "difficult" read, but it promises a great text pleasure for the reader who can enjoy a gripping novel even in difficult texts; this is the reader chosen by the Barthes author, who almost never "closes in" on himself. Where does critical thought reach today? The twentieth century is full of pain, oppression, domination and exploitation, as is often seen in human history. But this century has also had countless thinkers who have stood the test of time and contributed to our understanding of the world we live in with their observations and thoughts... Here, with the Metis Selections, we aimed to present representative examples from these writers who brought new intuitions to our age. When introducing an author living in another country in Turkish, the mentioned There are difficulties brought about by differences between the two societies such as language, cultural background, published and unpublished premises.
