Yasak Mıntıkanın Çocukları
What remains from the massacre called tertele by the people of Dersim; Along with the suffering, a dehumanized region remains. For years, this place was called 'forbidden zone' and no one could enter this area. The people of Dersim entered this zone much later, with special decisions. Hasan Sağlam, in his novel Children of the Forbidden Mintika, tells the story of a family of seven in every aspect, focusing on the miraculous struggle for survival of their deaf and mute daughter Sultan. Considered in the context of "delay, exile and return", Children of the Forbidden Zone should be read as the story of those who go into exile through human desperation, seek healing in their lands after being torn apart and dispersed, and then reach out to the ashes left over from the fire.
"Leaning behind the mountains, they were lined up around the neck of life like colored fabrics in rural times. Which side of the mountain was closest to the earth? At what time would the bride who would touch the stars sprinkle water on the field? They would kiss the skirts of spring and the sun to increase their fertility. They knew from old tales, "Forty mules or forty rows?" In the sentence " ", they would cry for the time torn from the middle of the book. They would place the greetings coming from places they did not know on their heads, and they would throw whatever was left over from their teeth to the ants. In recent years, the ashes of suffering were coming from far away with the wind and falling on the children's hair. The plum blossom, the shadow of the poplar, the grain of wheat were trembling. They were anxious. The lamb, the pigeon, were not sleeping. Gunshots were coming from distant places. In the darkness of the night, the lights rose to the sky, the sounds of cannons and rifles were scratching their ears with the miracle of fear. These were not the tracks that everyone knew. It wasn't. It had a different appearance, a different smell. He was terribly timid and foreign. The vivid vibration of gunshots coming from far away shook all the pictures in the memories. The perception of death licked the hearts. 'Potin marks!' they said.
