Yalnız Kadın
For the First Time in Turkish
Irene is 37 years old and has just been released from prison after four years. Irene, who abandoned organizational militancy in order to keep up with the social order, embarks on an inner journey during her bus journey from Barcelona to Bilbao, her birthplace. Through his dreams and the letters he carries with him, he tries to find peace and face the uncertain future that awaits him at home. Bernardo Atxaga, the master writer of the Basque language, reveals the tortured inner self of the protagonist through recurring motifs such as the sky and heterotopias such as the prison, the hotel, the bus or the nunnery. The story becomes a feminist allegory in which the political becomes deeply personal through the juxtaposition of threatening male characters and female characters who support them.
