Yakarcılar - Hasan Ali Yücel Classics
Among the three great tragic poets produced by Athens, he has a special place as the author whose works have survived to the present day. This is attributed to the fact that he was a more admired poet among the public, even though he did not win the first prize as much as Aeschylus and Sophocles at the festivals. The heroes of Euripides' plays have human weaknesses and flaws, and the pain they experience stems from these flaws and their passions that they cannot give up. The supplicants were probably concerned that the Athenians were concerned about the return of the dead after the Battle of Delos.
It is based on their discussions with the Thebans.
With this tragedy, Euripides makes his anti-war voice heard and emphasizes the meaninglessness of war.
