Either-Or Hardcover
Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard, one of the pioneers of existential philosophy, sheds light on the aesthetic and ethical stages of human existence in Either/Or. In the first part of the work, published under the pen name Victor Eremita, Kierkegaard speaks from the perspective of a young man who advocates Epicurean hedonism. The subject of the second part, which is a response to the aesthetic lifestyle in the first part, is the ethical lifestyle and is told from Judge Wilhelm's perspective. The poetic expression in the first part is replaced by a concrete language and the concepts of duty and marriage are focused on.
In Either/Or, one of the masterpieces of existential philosophy, Kierkegaard reveals the stages of human existence and states that the ethical lifestyle begins with "either/or" and that it is possible with the person's own choice.
