Vitrinde Yaşamak - 1980'lerin Kültürel İklimi
Living in the Showcase tries to analyze the cultural change that took place in Turkey in the 80s. It aims to analyze the contradictory appearances of these years in the cultural field, which presented themselves as a period of possibilities, and the new cultural environment that was born into a market established by state violence, right after a political coup. How could this change manifest itself with a promise of freedom and a claim of autonomy in the cultural field? More importantly, why was this promise so effective? While Türkiye was creating its modern culture, what had it left out and what had it pushed to the margins of the field of cultural expression? How, in what form and where did the contents that were suppressed during the formation of modern culture return in the 80s? In line with what needs and how was it reconstructed and brought to the agenda?
Living in the Showcase evaluates these questions, which are closely related to the cultural change in the world, by taking into account the political conditions, local dynamics and ruptures specific to this country in the 80s Turkey.
