Uncle Vanya
Chekhov's play The Forest Goblin, written in 1889, later turned into Uncle Vanya, in which purposeless lives are strikingly depicted. The characters, gathered on a farm and each immersed in their own unhappiness, struggle with inertia, boredom and regret. Some suffer from old age; Some lament their lives filled with drudgery, and some lament the missed opportunities. Something has slipped away from them, but what exactly is missing in their lives remains unclear. There is no "hero" in this melancholic atmosphere as introspections that lead to nothing continue. Uncle Vanya is dedicated to lost time, unrealized hopes, wasted lives and impossible loves.
