MUSIR ARSLAN
What happened in Diyarbakır Military Prison and Detention Center No. 5, which was opened after the 1980 Military Fascist Coup, are practices that should not be forgotten and kept alive in the Kurdish social memory. To date, about a dozen narratives and a few literary essays have been published describing what happened in this center of brutality. However, what was written and published fell far short of being able to properly explain what happened here. Some of them seem to be an effort to exonerate their circle of friends by taking into account the interests of the group they belong to, to undertake the gains of the resistance period rather than the period called surrender, and to benefit from it on behalf of the group. Some studies, which we have no doubt are objective, unfortunately were not enough to convey the essence and spirit of what happened and could not become part of our collective memory. Unfortunately, literary essays have not yet reached the level of competence to take a place in our social memory. More novels, stories, poems, essays and theater works are needed on this subject. Although the present study consists of two main parts, the author's effort to explain to the reader the readings he has made in order to get into the subject constitutes a chapter in itself and directs the reader's attention to distant and recent history. Drawing attention to torture and injustice throughout history, the author reveals a history of resistance and uprisings that we can call the short history of Kurdistan, and also reminds us of brutal massacres.
