Ulysses

James Joyce's modern epic Ulysses takes place in Dublin on a single day, June 16, 1904, and tells the story of advertising agent Leopold Bloom, Stephen Dedalus, who dreams of becoming a writer, and Leopold's wife Molly. The novel, which is based on the thoughts, dreams and movements of these three characters in the city, is, on the one hand, an innovative and assertive modernist experiment, and on the other hand, a realistic work that is curious about the details of daily life.

Ulysses, which left its mark on the 20th century and still preserves its surprise and richness, influenced many writers and has been the subject of countless studies. Nevzat Erkmen's translation, first published in 1996, is the product of a great effort that has never been attempted before, showing that Turkish can embrace Ulysses with all its complexity.
