Internationally Famous Aziz Vlas of Sivas
Saint Vlas, who lived in Sivas between 280-316, was one of the first bishops and martyrs of Christianity in Anatolia. His closeness to the people during his lifetime as a physician and the miracles he was believed to have performed at the time of his death made him a saint who was always by the people's side and called for help in many matters.
In order to get good products in agriculture in France, Italy and Belgium; To facilitate births in Malta and to heal sick animals in Russia; Against angina in Spain, against rabies in Belgium, against diphtheria, toothache, gout, rickets and rheumatism in France; To be protected from wild wolves in Greece and from earthquakes in Italy; In many countries, its help is sought against respiratory problems and throat diseases.
Saint Vlas, whose cult has spread from Russia to America, from Scandinavia to South Africa, and where there are thousands of churches, monasteries, votive places, cities, towns and villages dedicated to him or bearing his name, is no longer well known in the country where he was born. However, even in the early 20th century, he was not only the "Surp Vlas" of the Armenians in Sivas, but also the "Saint of the Bosphorus" of the Muslims. A Turkish woman took care of his grave, and both Christian and Muslim Sivas people visited him.
