Uçurum İnsanları
The People of the Abyss is a first-hand testimony to the dark side of the British Empire, known as the land on which the sun never sets...
In 1902, Jack London moved to East East from the poor districts of the city for a few months. He comes to London to live on the Side and spends his time like a commoner. Here, he encounters an environment where the rights gained at great cost by the labor movement are disregarded, and great poverty and misery that do not suit human dignity. Hungry people eating fruit garbage they find on the pavement to fill their stomachs, homeless people sleeping on streets where diseases and filth are rampant, exhausted and homeless children left unattended, all seem to have fallen into a terrifying pit. The People of the Abyss, which draws the reader in from the first page, explains the poverty behind wealth and prosperity with direct and striking observations. "For no other book of mine have I shed as much heartache and tears as I did for People of the Abyss, which examines the economic humiliation of the poor."
