Uçurum İnsanları
People of the Abyss is a novel about the oppressed people living in the poor neighborhoods of London, deprived of all rights. London, who made his first trip to England in the summer of 1902, disguised himself and lived in London's East End for two months. He mingled with lower-class people who wanted nothing more than to be fed, lived with them, and conveyed his observations in a literary language. People of the Abyss, which reveals social injustice in all its simplicity, still maintains its feature as an important classic work.
"No other book of mine has wrenched my young heart as much as poverty has."
