Book Description of the Turk's Great Wretched Race: "Today, you painted our land in the Balkans with the color of glory with your blood. That sting of defeat finally made our souls bleed and look, we are laughing now, the hours of lies are always yesterday's. Disasters sometimes give birth to happiness like this. Bitterness is to taste the sweetness well. The fire of hatred melts the strongest majesty. May your chest swell, heroic Turk, now is our glory and pride. If you want your enemy to respect you, work, sweat, embrace the fairy of civilization..." The pathetic lines here are from an article published in Türk Yurdu magazine in 1915. It reflects the nationalist uprising spirit of the period, loaded with resentment, a sense of revenge, and determination in life-and-death violence. In this study, which examines Türk Yurdu magazine in the years 1911-1916, that is, during the vigilance period between the Balkan Wars and the World War, Ümit Kurt reveals the racist vein in the formation of Turkish nationalism. Taner Akçam's foreword to the book draws our attention to the fact that this ideological formation lies at the basis of the way of "solving" the Armenian Question and now not confronting it. The book includes a detailed analysis of the texts of the founding intellectuals of Turkish nationalism such as Ziya Gökalp, Yusuf Akçura, Ahmet Ağaoğlu, Halide Edip, Mehmed Emin Yurdakul, Ömer Seyfeddin, Celal Sahir, Mehmed Ali Tevfik, Kâzım Nâmi, Fuad Köprülü. Parvus Efendi's writings on the issue of economics constitute an interesting title in itself. Number of Pages: 256 Year of Printing: 2012 Language: Turkish Publishing House: İletişim Yayıncılık
