Türkiye'de Alevilik

Although both the official view and the Sunni section in our country stubbornly try to spread the image that there is a single Islamic stance, Alevism, which is a heterodox Islamic belief and culture system covering wide segments, manages to maintain its existence despite all historical and current pressures.

Since Alevism, which is "another Islam", cannot find a place for itself in official religious education programs due to political reasons, it is transmitted among the people informally, therefore it exists as a kind of folk Islam and perhaps finds its strength in resisting the pressure of centuries in this feature.

On the other hand, Alevism, a belief system, had to open political corridors for itself in the mirror of the change process followed by official Islam towards politicization.

Today, there is a fragmented Alevi world. Alevis differ among themselves with their definitions and understandings. In this book, after examining the historical process of Alevism, Murat Okan examines today's two active Alevi organizations (Pir Sultan Abdal Association and Cem Foundation) in their opposition.
