The Turkish translation of Hannah Arendt's comprehensive work, The Sources of Totalitarianism, is completed with the third volume, Totalitarianism. After two volumes in which Arendt deals with the debates on anti-Semitism and imperialism, this volume, which directly gives its name to the work, examines in detail the origins of the totalitarian thought, its development into an organized movement, its institutionalization, propaganda and manipulation tools. Arendt, who refuses to consider totalitarianism by fixing it only on the framework of fascism and on the axis of the destructiveness of anti-Semitism, depicts the formation of the Nazi party, its institutions and methods based on totalitarian thought, and on the other hand, comprehensively examines this totalitarian example of "Eastern despotism" through the Soviet Union and Stalin. Arendt invites her readers to a political responsibility shaped by "love of the world" against totalitarianism, which they can overcome with a free, creative and critical understanding that truly embraces equality.
