The creator who leaves the seed in the man's womb; It is believed that women are the soil that nourishes this. Seed and soil – two seemingly innocent images. However, there is a hierarchy between them; While the creativity and life-giving power attributed to men symbolically brings them closer to God, the nurturing role of women matches them with what God created, that is, the world. Based on her field research in a Sunni Central Anatolian village, anthropologist Carol Delaney examines the beliefs and symbols related to "creation" and their perceptions of the villagers' body, sexuality, marriage, food and drink, and time-space, as well as the division of labor and nationalism rhetoric in the reproduction of the household. examines its role in its formation. Delaney's main thesis is that the "mono-source" theory of reproduction and the theological doctrine of monotheism are related to each other; religion and reproduction cannot be handled separately. The questions that constitute Delaney's starting point in Seed and Soil, one of the important anthropological studies on Turkey, are as follows: "Why is God symbolized as male, explicitly or implicitly, in all three monotheistic religions?" and “Why has biological reproduction been devalued and thus placed women in a low status?
