Teşkilat-ı Mahsusa-Operations in the Caucasus and the Balkans

Unconventional warfare... One of the most important blind spots in our Ottoman and Republican military history... The Special Organization is an important stage in our unconventional warfare history... In the eyes of many of us, it is an esoteric organization that dominates the entire operational and intelligence field, a pile of unknowns. Yes, it is undeniable that many events confirm the extraordinary nature of the Special Organization. However, we have to accept that, like other historical events, the Teşkilat-ı Mahsusa points to a real past consisting of real people, a historical adventure with corners. As long as the organization is studied not with ideological, aesthetic or moral concerns, but with caution against misleading arising from the nature of the subject, and by following the past that speaks to us through the sources.
It is beyond any debate that one of the most important sources regarding Teşkilat-ı Mahsusa is Arif Cemil Denker, who has an organic connection with the organization. Denker wrote the first serial about Teşkilat-ı Mahsusa in the early Republic period, approximately 10 years after the organizations that could be considered as direct continuations of Teşkilat-ı Mahsusa disappeared from the stage of history. Based on this importance, we are starting the Secret Organizations Series, which we have prepared with the aim of helping the unconventional war history studies in our country to be pursued in the right medium and making them accessible to everyone, with Denker's serialization in Umum-i Harp under the name Teşkilat-ı Mahsusa.
In this critical study, Denker focuses on the activities of the Special Organization, which has a presence in a wide operational geography from Spain in the west to China and Indonesia in the east, from Russia in the north to Sudan in the south, in the Caucasus and the Balkans.
Military historian-writer Erhan Çifci has made this work, which has become difficult to understand even though it was written in a very fluent style under the conditions of the period in which it was published, much more understandable and useful with his meticulous edition. We hope that this work, which we have re-launched under the name Teşkilat-ı Mahsusa: Operations in the Caucasus and the Balkans, will bring Arif Cemil the respect he deserves in the literature.
