Dangerous Liaisons, which had a great impact when it was published in 1782 and continues to be read and discussed today, is Choderlos de Laclos' first and only novel.

Adapted to the cinema by Roger Vadim, Stephen Frears and Miloš Forman, and to the theater by Heiner Müller, Dangerous Liaisons is one of the most controversial novels of Western literature, with its story full of intrigues and extremely complex moral ambiguities arising from seduction and revenge, which has made its author compared to Sade.

Each person in this multi-layered epistolary novel, in which Laclos treats the "letter" form as an object and fiction material and places it in a new fictional universe, thus redefining the concepts of author and reader, is, as Malraux says, "a form of expression." The writers of the letters, their readers, and finally the readers outside the text who read the fiction are completed with a magnificent geometry. Dangerous Liaisons is like a clock with wheels, gears, needles, shafts and springs, big and small.
