Journey to the Land of Stones, in which world-renowned Russian writer Vasili Grossman wrote his impressions of Armenia, is a text that goes far beyond being the author's testimony about the Caucasian geography, which he visited for the first time, and is sometimes shocking, sometimes lyrical, but powerful in every aspect. In the book, Grossman handles rich material with the skill of master writers, with discussions on life, Soviet people, Russian, Armenian and Jewish identities, nationalism and anti-Semitism, and Stalinism.

Vasili Grossman, one of the most important Soviet writers of his period, after the typed text of his novel Life and Destiny was confiscated by the KGB in February 1961, corrected the Russian translation of an epic novel written in Armenian in order to escape the material and moral difficulties caused by this situation. accepts his suggestion. He goes to Armenia in the autumn of the same year to meet and work with the author and translator. Dobro vam (Hello to You), which he wrote after his time there, was also censored and was published only eight months after the author's death in September 1964, with many sections removed. The complete text will only see the light of day in 1988. The book published by Aras under the title Journey to the Land of Stones is the translation of this complete text. In the book, Grossman, with the awareness that he is perhaps in the last days of his life, tries to understand the spirit of the times and the nature of man, and presents a text full of wisdom, intelligence, humor and comprehension power from "The Land of Stones" to his readers all over the world.
