Tarihsel Kapitalizm
At first glance, historical capitalism, far from being a 'natural' system as some of its defenders suggest, is clearly an absurd system. Capital is produced to produce more capital. Capitalists are like a white mouse in a treadmill, running faster and faster to get even faster. In this process, some people live well, but others live poorly. So, how well and for how long will those who live well live? We are all so filled with the self-justified ideology of progress fashioned by this historical system that we have difficulty accepting the many negative aspects of this system. Even such a determined accuser as Marx placed great emphasis on the progressive role played by historical capitalism. I don't believe in the word 'progressive' unless it is used in the historical sense of coming later... Then why and how did such a system come about? -Immanuel Wallerstein
