History and Civilization - Anatolia, Kurdistan and Mesopotamia

Kurdish writer-historian Şerefxan Cizîrî 's work titled History and Civilization was published by Lis Publications. The work, which was previously published in two volumes, is on the shelves as a single book for the first time by Lis Publications. Explaining the basic historical processes in Anatolia, Kurdistan and Mesopotamia in a fluent and simple language, the book examines historical and cultural facts with an interdisciplinary method. While examining the basic concepts in this field , the author explains basic concepts such as history, culture, civilization, language, religion, mythology, people, race, class, and state together with their historical realities.
Author Şerefxan Cizîrî says the following in the foreword of his book; ''As a historian, when I examined the richness of Anatolia, Kurdistan and Mesopotamia, I felt truly proud. It is not an easy task for human beings to be proud of their past. Because our historical past has been constantly conveyed to us as a panorama of wars and destruction. Mankind's passion for war and destruction is described in great detail in our history books. But keeping the philosophy of war and destruction constantly on the agenda clearly serves some social segments.
Contrary to traditional history, I saw that social development in Anatolia, Kurdistan and Mesopotamia was not just a history of war, fanaticism and destruction. As much as war, fanaticism and destruction, I have seen at least as much culture and civilization, literature and science, architecture and art in our region. Our people created all these works. There were very few similar works of these works in the world, but we were not aware of this richness. We have always seen our own region and people as small and others as big. Naturally, the colonial education process that we all received played the most decisive role here. The colonial order, which remained in force for thousands of years, succeeded in alienating the people of the region from their true identities.
According to this understanding, the West was civilized and developed, while the East was primitive and reactionary. Moving away from the East was considered a guarantee of civilization and progress. But this fact was not well known: The basic mortar of civilization in the West came from the East. Even Westerners did not deny this. Even Christianity, which was presented to us as the religion of the West, originated in our own region. Hz. Jesus was born in the City of Nazareth, not in Paris!
In my opinion, being Eastern should be a source of pride. But this pride should never mean despising or looking down on others. "Determining and understanding our own identity could never be achieved by denying someone else's identity."
