Tartare with Tarascon
Tartar with Tarascon Book Description
Alphonse Daudet (1840-1897): The child of a merchant family, Daudet abandoned his education after his family went bankrupt and joined the literary circles in Paris. He wrote works in the genres of poetry, novels, stories, letters, memoirs and letters. Tartarin of Tarascon, written by Daudet in 1872 after Letters from My Mill, tells the adventures of a hunting enthusiast from Southern France in French Algeria. Although he did not attract much attention at the time of his publication, Tartarin, the naive braggart who brings together Don Quixote and Sancho Panza in one body, has gradually taken his place among the most popular comic characters of French literature. In its view of the East, which fascinated European minds in the nineteenth century, the work subjects both this orientalist interest and the object of this interest, the East, to a humorous and good-humoured criticism.
