This memoir / research book was produced by analyzing the life stories of 103 people who witnessed the Armenian genocide from an academic perspective. The witnesses were on average between the ages of eleven and twelve at the time of the genocide, and were born in a wide area within Turkey.

Almost all interviews; The interviews took place in the survivors' own residences, and many emotions were expressed throughout the interviews. Regarding the actual analyses; "pre-exile memories", "exile experiences", "orphanage memories", "immigration experiences", etc. Data were also tried to be obtained. In addition; one concerns the "psychological thoughts" of survivors; the other is referred to as "interpretation", which is simply a better scientific name for the data.

"Psychological guide"; anger, forgiveness, guilt, revenge, etc., while the "interpretive guide" contains various files under such headings as theological, altruism, and "good Turks." Including Armenia, the interviews were mostly transcribed and summarized rather than transcribed word for word. Eight of the interviews were conducted in English, two in Turkish, and all the remaining interviews in Armenian. The main difference between the interview guide and other oral history projects is that a large number of questions are included that cover the survivors' interpretations of the meaning of the genocide as well as their personal attitudes. Donald E. Miller & Lorna Touryan Miller say of the interview, "There was not even an interview where we had time to ask every single question in the interview guide. However, the answers to most questions emerged spontaneously during the interviews." The thesis, prepared with such a methodology, was turned into a book with the contributions of the University of California. This work emerged with this methodology.
