SVERDLOV - Young Ural
I had not seen Comrade Andrey, but I had heard of this name. They reported that the new Central Committee officer, Comrade Andrey, was an excellent organizer, agitator and propagandist, that he had met everyone and that some of his unanswered questions had been answered… Not far from the dam of the Isset River , my companion directed my attention to an ordinary-looking, rather young man, a lad. The young man's appearance was unremarkable at first glance: He was of medium height, slim and upright, with thick, wavy black hair sticking out like thorns from under his hat, which was slightly pushed back. A simple, black Russian coat covered his skinny body. The jacket was thrown over his shoulder, youthful enthusiasm was oozing from his calm-looking body. Everything was old but clean and tidy. The overall impression was good. But how young he was! Was this the much talked about comrade Andrey? I looked at my companion with questioning eyes. He silently and barely noticeable bowed his head, let go of my arm, slowed his steps and stood back... Our conversation was lively and natural, as if we had known each other for a long time and well. Andre's quiet is quite charming; It was a deep and soft bass voice. At first, this voice did not seem to fit his skinny body at all. But after a few minutes the inconsistency of the impression disappeared, yes, this person could not speak otherwise! |
