Sociology Lessons
Sociology Lectures, notes of the lectures and conferences given by the famous French sociologist Emile Durkheim, the founder of sociology, at various universities in France since 1890. These notes, which were brought together and not published while Durkheim was alive, were compiled into a book for the first time by the then Dean of Istanbul University Faculty of Law, Hüseyin Nail Kubali, years after his death.
Sociology Lessons discusses Durkheim's views on important sociological issues such as professional ethics, civic ethics, general duties separate from all social classes, property rights, constitutional rights, contract law, contract morality, in a methodical and instructive way. The study, which roughly outlines the basic principles of Durkheim's method and the outlines of his teaching, approaches the fields in question especially within the framework of moral examination and gives priority to the definition and observation of facts, and claims to be an instructive rather than a research and review book. This effort to understand the sources of social consciousness enables us to understand Durkheim's contribution to first the structuring and then the interpretation of social phenomena.
A study that goes beyond the boundaries of sociology by a French scientist who influenced many sociologists in Turkey...
