This valuable work, first published in the USA in 1953, quickly became one of the classic texts of socialist thought and has been one of the most read introductory books in Turkey, as in many countries of the world, for half a century.

The fact that it was written taking into account the prejudices of workers who, by their interests, should be socialists, but who stay away from socialism due to the influence of slander and ideological bombardment about socialism, greatly expands the book's appeal. According to the competent American socialist Leo Huberman, first of all, it is necessary to understand what socialism is, whether it is good or bad, whether it is something to fight against or for. The purpose of the book is to help understand socialism.

The first half of the book is devoted to the economic analysis of capitalism from a socialist perspective. In the second part, socialist theory is discussed. Since the two most important and influential names who played a role in the development of the doctrine of socialism were Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, the Alphabet of Socialism was founded on their understanding.
