Are social movements the main opposition to the world flattened by globalization in the last twenty years? These movements, which started with an anti-globalization reaction, gradually turned towards developing an alternative globalization perspective. Opposition to neoliberalism and war expanded its framework with demands regarding culture, the environment and gender identity. Experiences of a new public sphere are being formed on a global scale.

Yavuz Yıldırım offers an analytical description of this striking phenomenon of the last twenty years, associating it with the legacy of the '68 movement. The process from the World and European Social Forums, which tend to establish a global public space, to the "Furious" and "Occupy" protests, gives us important clues about the politics of the future.
