Last Words
William S. Burroughs, who passed away in August 1997, only kept a diary in his last years. In Last Words, which is a compilation of the diaries he kept in the last nine months of his life, it is possible to find many clues about his cats, doctors, writer and artist friends, drug use, his feelings and thoughts about government conspiracies, as well as his creative processes and novel or story designs.
Although Burroughs was in his eighties when he wrote these diaries, it is still as we know; He has lost none of his hostility to the Established Order, his disdain for the human condition, his shock and sarcasm. On the other hand, Last Words is unlike any of Burroughs' other works, and consists of the purest, most intimate and subjective texts he wrote.
