It is obvious that there is a gap in qualified, comprehensive and up-to-date Turkish introductory books in the field of Political Science. The book you have here tries to close this gap. It consists of three parts and 40 chapters, written by 35 authors, most of whom are from well-established universities in Turkey and the world. The first part is titled "Basic Concepts in Political Science". In this section, which ranges from more general concepts such as politics and power to more specific concepts such as identity and hegemony, the book introduces the reader to the basic conceptual tools of the discipline of political science. In the second part, the authors examine the basic "Political Ideologies". Examining 11 different ideologies, from liberalism to Islamism, the authors also create a balance sheet of the adventure of ideology and modern political ideologies from the 18th century to the present. In the third and final part of the book, titled "Interdisciplinary Relations", the relationship between political science and close social scientific disciplines is discussed, and both the common aspects of political science as a social science with other disciplines and its specific aspects are emphasized. In this section, which is not usually found in introductory books on political science, disciplines from philosophy to urban studies, where political science somehow crosses paths and collaborates, are discussed within the framework of their relations with political science.

We hope that this book, which was prepared primarily for students taking introductory political science courses in social science departments of universities, will be useful to the professors of those students and the general reader.
