It seems possible to say that the field of social sciences in Turkey in the 2000s witnessed the formation of a medium that can be called labor/class studies. This medium; We can determine that it was created by young generation researchers as well as the works of first and middle generation researchers. The compilation book you are reading consists of studies prepared by middle and young generation labor and class researchers. It is also possible to interpret these studies as a kind of mapping attempt. Especially with the influence of the 2008 crisis of capitalism and worldwide social movements, class-themed studies and discussions have begun to become visible again in the academy. This development process can also be associated with the loss of momentum of postmodern approaches. To narrow this proposition down a bit, we can say that, especially in the last 10 years, the number of works focusing on labor and class in Turkey has increased, nourished by different academic disciplines and branches of science. However, it should be noted that this phenomenon is not a mainstream trend in the dominant disciplines of social sciences such as social policy, sociology and communication. In the attempt to map labor and class studies in the book in your hand, we tried to place the "images of class" within a class composition of Turkish society. Excluding migratory seasonal agricultural workers, the book contains theoretical and factual information on different segments of the urban working class. Within this factual world, there are old and new members of the working class in Turkey. If we need to evaluate these members by including them in a social class composition, the schemes derived by Korkut Boratav (2004) and Serdal Bahçe, Ahmet Haşim Köse and F. Günaydın (2011) redefine the labor groups, whose theoretical and factual worlds are examined in the book, on the social class plane and place them on this plane. We can say that it offers appropriate conceptual tools to place the Accordingly, according to Boratav's scheme of social classes and subgroups, the relevant social classes and labor groups are divided into agricultural workers (migratory seasonal agricultural workers), highly qualified wage earners (surgeons, bankers, lawyers, engineers, etc.) architect, advertiser, HRM manager), white-collar wage earner (office worker, teacher, store manager, assistant store manager, expert sales consultant, sales consultant), unskilled service worker (domestic worker, security and cleaning workers, call center employee, cashier). A composition that we can classify as blue-collar workers (miners) emerges. When we look at Bahçe et al.'s social class derivations, it can be seen that the labor groups listed can be included in a composition of class formations such as urban professionals, urban qualified laborers, urban laborers and agricultural laborers.
