The new poetry book of Nihat Ziyalan, one of the masters of today's poetry, has been published by Sevdakeş Yapı Kredi Publications.
There are sections from three main periods of Ziyalan's life in Sevdakeş. Childhood and youth years spent in Adana; Traces of Yeşilçam acting and cinema-literature friendships in Istanbul; his daily life in Sydney, where he lived for forty years. Sevdakeş poems skillfully move back and forth between these sections of life. The shadow of dreams falls on memories, and the shadow of concrete realities falls on dreams. Sevdakeş is a book in which the poet looks at his experiences and the world with a loving smile, and does not leave out the irony in its pages.
