After Tanzimat, a brand new era began with the Literature-ı Cedide movement, which prioritized the individual and art. Great changes occur in prose as well as in poetry, and the story genre develops considerably. Authors such as Halit Ziya, Mehmet Rauf and Hüseyin Cahit present the best examples of the story genre. Among these names, Tevfik Fikret also wrote some stories in almost the same years (1894-1899), but later turned entirely to poetry.
The stories of our great poet, some of which remained in the magazines in which he was published, were brought together for the first time in today's Turkish and as the original text in this book.
