Namık Kemal wrote the work you have in your hand as a response to the work of a European named Michaud on the History of the Crusades, which made various attacks on Muslims as well as Islam. Namık Kemal is not disturbed by the fact that the work called 'Crusader History', which was also translated into Ottoman during his lifetime, was translated into Ottoman Turkish without any sorting of this criticism of Islam. On the contrary, he states that not compromising objectivism in translation studies is the most natural attitude.

Despite Namık Kemal's uncompromising attitude against censorship, years later, while his work 'Evrak-ı Perişan' was being translated into modern Turkish, censorship was applied to some parts of his work 'Selahaddin', which constitutes a part of this work... The word 'Kurdistan' in the book is a It is changed to 'Southeastern Anatolia' in one place and 'Northern Iraq' and 'Upper Iraq' in two different places.

One of the important reasons why we re-translated this work into today's Turkish is to present the work of Namık Kemal, one of the unique writers of Turkish literature, called 'Selahaddin' to the readers in an uncensored/original way. In addition, we think that the life of a Kurdish figure like Saladin, who devoted his whole life to the rise of Islam, full of unique struggles, will be important for Kurdish literature as well.
