Şarkılar - Ciltli Kitap
Giacomo Leopardi (1798-1837): Italian poet, philosopher, essayist and linguist Leopardi was born into a noble family in Recanati. He spent the early part of his life working and writing in his father's library. From the age of fourteen to eighteen, he translated important classics and wrote tragedies, poems and philosophical essays. After 1816, he turned to prose and wrote his prose magnum opus, Operette morali.
In 1831, he went to Florence with the financial support of his friends and had the Songs published there. He settled in Naples in 1833 and died there of cholera. Throughout his life, he progressed in a line extending from poetry to philosophy and from philosophy to poetry, and while preserving the romantic sensitivity in all his works, he also glorified the classics. These pessimistic Songs are dedicated to themes such as nature, Italy, love, death.
