Ebû Ya'la Hamza İbn Esad et-Tamîmî İbn Kalânisî (1073-1160): The writer, who rose to the rank of Dîvanü'r-Resâil, which can be considered as the highest level foreign affairs official, was one of the well-educated nobles of Damascus during his time. He undertook various administrative duties and was known as a politician and chronicler. Zeyl to the History of Damascus, written by Hilal es-Sâbî as an appendix to his History, is one of the most important chronicles that have survived from the chaotic environment of the 12th century. I. and II. The fact that it is the earliest chronicle written in Arabic about the Crusades gives the work a special importance.
