Introducing Poet Ed and Honest Trader Leon Bahar
Yuda Leon Bahar from Ankara…
He was passionate about poetry, but could not write a single poem. Poetry became a missed target, a lost position for him.
For years he wanted to see his name as a writer; He tirelessly sent articles to newspaper administrations. The newspapers, which did not give him a single column, wrote his name on the list of those who did not pay their debts.
He always tried to be a good merchant, but he was forced to travel to Aşkale to prove that he was an honest merchant.
He was passionately devoted to his homeland, but was treated as a traitor.
This land did not appreciate Leon Bahar and people like him... As it did not know, it neither confronted nor apologized for what it put them through.
Leon Bahar's short life of 44 years did not allow him to express his meaning. If he had lived his life, perhaps he would have found a way to explain that true patriotism is not about religion, race, or wealth, but about the heart.
He wrote without being offended that he was considered a foreigner in his own land, where he fell in love with its mountains, stones and people...
He would write justice at the top. “Justice for everyone, always,” he would say.
Then he would write about love. Undoubtedly, he wrote about love the most.
