Ruslan and Ludmila
An epic work in which humor, heroism, irony, sadness, unprecedented in Russian literature, and sexuality are used together in a way that was deemed too bold by the conservative circles of the period and caused great reactions.
Puskin made extensive use of Russian history and old Russian tales in this fairy tale poem consisting of six songs and epilogues; He carefully avoided expressions that would shock the reader's emotions, and used a simple and unadorned language, sometimes vulgar. In Ruslan and Ludmila, the marriage of Ruslan, one of the brave knights of Prince Vladimir of Kiev, and Princess Ludmila, the daughter of Prince Vladimir; Ludmila's abduction by a sorcerer on her wedding night; Ruslan's attempts to search for Ludmila, together with Rodgay, Farlaf and Hazar Hani Ratmir, one of the knights of Prince Vladimir, who has his eye on Ludmila, are told in an epic-tale-like atmosphere. The victory of goodness over evil, the idea of freedom against tyranny, real heroism over fakes, justice over criminals, and bravery, honesty, love for non-Russian heroes from Finnish to Khazar Hani are reflected with an unlimited optimism and joy of life.
