Ruhun Tutkuları - Hasan Ali Yücel Klasikler
René Descartes, (1596-1650): French mathematician, scientist and philosopher.
He was one of the first to abandon Scholastic Aristotelianism. He is called the father of modern philosophy because he formulated the first modern version of the mind-body problem and initiated the development of a new science based on observation and experiment. The Passions of the Soul is the last of the four works that Descartes allowed to be published during his lifetime. This review, which he published in French a year before his death, is a kind of "testament" of the philosopher and the fruit of his entire philosophy. This "little treatise", in Descartes' own words, has a special place as it articulates and combines elements from different sections of Cartesian philosophy. It is located at the intersection of metaphysics and morality based on psycho-physiological science, as it deals with the freedom of the will and the separation of soul and body functions in general.
