Mem û Zîn , inspired by the Memê Alan epic, a love narrative in the oral tradition, is a masterpiece written based on the common taste, culture and perception of Islamic societies. From this perspective, Mem û Zîn is an important literary contribution to the Classical Islamic Literature literature on behalf of Kurdish Literature.

Among the translations of the work from Kurdish to other languages, the translations into Turkish are both older and more numerous than the others. The translation made by Aşık-ı Sıpkî, nicknamed Nazmî, is the oldest Turkish translation found so far. Reyâhin-i Aşk, which we describe as a common work of Turkish and Kurdish Literature, was written in 1856.
