Origins of Postmodernity
Postmodernism has been appearing in every field in recent years. This concept is used in many fields, from art to social sciences, from architecture to cinema, and even coups. So, what are the origins of this concept that everyone uses easily? How should the resources of postmodernity as an idea be evaluated in its spatial, political and intellectual context? Marxist theorist Perry Anderson places Fredric Jameson's contribution to the idea of postmodernity in such a context and reveals that he addresses postmodernity from a much more left perspective compared to Levin, Fiedler, Hassan, Jencks, Habermas and Lyotard. Because Jameson is the only person who defines postmodernity as a new phase of capitalism within the framework of classical Marxist terms. Anderson also speculates on the socio-economic conditions that form the background of the postmodern, rather than the postmodern as an idea, and offers new evaluations of the assumptions of modernism at the end of the 19th century. What is at stake here is the appropriation of the Jamesonian historical materialist interpretation of postmodernism, which is increasingly coming under the ownership of the right. A leftist counter to the right's hegemonic efforts at inclusion.
