Poltava, which is about the betrayal of the historical figure Mazepa to Peter the Great, and a passionate love story with war and execution scenes; The Copper Horseman, which is about the tragedy of a poor young man whose life was ruined by the overflow of the Neva River; Count Nulin, where Russian daily life is told in a witty language; and His historical and realistic poems, such as The Little House in Kolomna, are also mature examples of Pushkin's lyricism.
