Parma Monastery - Hardcover
Parma Monastery Book Description
Although Stendhal's famous work, The Monastery of Parma, was a novel written in about two months, Balzac praised it with the words "The most beautiful of the novels published in fifty years" and considered it a masterpiece, and Tolstoy said, "If it had not been for The Monastery of Parma, I would never have written War and Peace." I couldn't create it that way. Stendhal taught me to understand war.” What he said is an important work. The first edition of the novel was made in 1839 and has been translated into Turkish many times.
Parma Monastery tells the story of Fabrizio, the son of the del Dongo family. Fabrizio, the idealist son of this aristocratic family, participates in the Battle of Waterloo alongside Napoleon, even though he is not yet sufficiently prepared for war. He is both extremely brave and a great admirer of Napoleon. But his idealism, courage and dreams could not prevent him from being first in prison, then in a monastery, and falling into a love full of intrigues.
