Seventy Tales of the Parrot: Şukasaptati-Hasan Ali Yücel Classics
It is not known when and by whom Shukasaptati, one of the most important works of Indian fairy tale literature, was written. Although it is less well-known than works such as Hitopadesha or The Ocean of Tale Rivers – Kathāsaritsāgara – Seventy Tales of the Parrot had a greater impact on Western Asian and European literature. This collection of tales, known all over the world thanks to their Persian translations, Tûtînâme, has changed and enriched over time with the addition of other tales. Shukasaptati has a reckless tongue that does not beat around the bush. Some of the tales in the work, which never limits itself, also inspired writers such as Boccaccio, one of the pioneers of humanism in Europe.
