Osmanlı'da Kürt Milliyetçiliği-Kimlik, Evrim, Sadakat
In Kurdish Nationalism in the Ottoman Empire: Identity, Evolution, Loyalty, Hakan Özoğlu examines Kurdish nationalism during the last period of the Ottoman Empire and the first period of the Republic with a geographical, chronological and methodological approach. It mainly focuses on the social and political history of Kurdish nationalism, Kurdish identity and the administrative policies of the Ottoman Empire in Kurdistan. While it focuses on the role of the Kurdish notables in the Ottoman Empire and the relationship established by the imperial state with the notables through the effects of Kurdish nationalism in the east, it also makes references to the intellectual activities carried out by the Kurds throughout the 19th century in the context of social and political history. The Kurdistan Teali Society (KTC), which represents Kurdish nationalism, is also examined in the book. Unlike similar organizations previously established, this well-organized society was actively engaged in the creation of a homogeneous Kurdish identity and the dissemination of its ideology. This society, which had a heterogeneous social composition, consisted of different prominent families claiming to represent the Kurdish intellectual and nationalist class. After the First World War, the leaders of the mentioned Kurdish political class reviewed their ties with the collapsed regime and shaped the responses to the demands of the regime that was being established.
Kurdish Nationalism in the Ottoman Empire discusses how nationalism, which influenced the whole world and the geography of the empire at the end of the 19th century, shaped one of the most important components of the Middle East, the Kurdish identity, through the empire, notables, families/tribes, individuals and social-political change.
