2- My Name is Red

1-Snow
Snow, which Pamuk calls "my first and last political novel", is the best and most ambitious novel in Turkish literature, dealing with the political atmosphere of the 1990s and describing the period with all its violence and conflicts. Discussing the story of political Islamists, leftists, Turkish and Kurdish nationalists in Kars through faith, the headscarf issue, military coups, and the anger and despair of living in the third world, Pamuk in Snow displays his sense of humor to the fullest, which we see from time to time in his other novels. We are publishing Snow with an afterword that touches upon previously unknown details of the writing and publishing processes of the novel.

Four days after his return to Turkey, poet Ka, who has been exiled in Germany for twelve years, finds himself in the city of Kars for an interview. Under the snow that falls slowly and non-stop, he tries to get to know this sad and beautiful city and its people, street by street, shop by shop. Teahouses in Kars filled to the brim with unemployed people, a traveling theater company that came from abroad and was stranded in the snow, girls who committed suicide and engaged in headscarf resistance, various political groups, rumors, rumors, the Karpalas Hotel and its owner Turgut Bey and his daughters İpek and Kadife and Ka There is the promise of love and happiness. Snow is a novel that must be read to understand Turkey's basic political conflicts.

2- My Name is Red
My Name is Red, which Orhan Pamuk calls "my most colorful and optimistic novel", takes place on nine snowy winter days in Istanbul in 1591. When the beautiful Shekure, whose two little sons are constantly in conflict with each other, begins to look for a new husband and lover to replace her husband, who has not returned from the war for four years, she watches from her hiding place the palace muralists that her father calls home one by one. The master miniaturists who come to the house, under the supervision of his father, are making dangerous paintings with Frankish influence for a book secretly commissioned by the Ottoman Sultan. When one of them is killed, her aunt's son, Kara, who is in love with Shekure, steps in. While the pressures, expensiveness and fear of an anti-society group gathered around a preacher in Istanbul prevail, miniaturists and calligraphers who gather in a coffee house at night are entertained by the stories told by a sharp-tongued storyteller. This book about death, art, love, marriage and happiness, where everyone speaks with their own voice, where the dead and things speak, is also an elegy to the forgotten beauties of old painting.
