Diary of an Insignificant Man
How did a middle-class Londoner live at the end of the nineteenth century? This "diary", which the Gros-smith brothers wrote partly to mock the "life stories of celebrities" trend, was published in book form in 1892 after being serialized in the British Punch magazine. This book, written by an "insignificant man", captures the relationships with neighbors, friends, and children, the strangeness of working life, and the inner voice of the middle classes with great sarcasm, and reveals the absurdity and beauty of bourgeois life with great humor. The classic "diary" of the Grossmiths, translated by Kaya Genç, is available in Turkish for the first time in Iletisim Publications.
